I say keep the 10p tax rate

Although I am not someone who earns just a basic wage I do think that the Labour Government has got it wrong with the way that they changes they are making to the tax system are going to hit poorly paid individuals.

There is not doubt that many people have done very nicely thank you over the years and some have made sizable amounts of money. You would think that a Labour government would be inclined to lean a little harder in such people before bringing in measures which see some of the poorest people in the country being hit by the effect of tax changes. They really need to do something to take away the impact of these measures. I must say that Gordon Brown trying to sound "resolute" on this issue is just making me start to think that this man is very much out of touch not only with his own constituency but also with the views of New Labours own supporters.

I doubt he will take any notice of little own me but I think he will be foolish if he doesn't show that he has listened on this issue ... mark my words .....

The abolition of the 10p tax rate will succeed in locking even more people into the client state as tax credits become even more attractive. I find it astonishing that Labour MPs on Tyneside think that the answer to low pay is to shift more civil servants away from London, rather than reinstating the 10p rate.
